Farm Fresh Express

Farm Fresh Express has selected Plaistow Football Club for its first long-term community-based sponsorship programme. The company is a 'virtual farmers market' with a wide range of locally produced food and drink available online (or by catalogue) and delivered direct to homes. Farm Fresh Express is excited by the opportunity to support a healthy sport through a Club that plays across much of it's home delivery area. "Health comes from both good food and exercise and we are keen to reinforce the links between these two aspects of well-being. With obesity (particularly among children) on the increase we felt it was important to encourage a healthy way of life, which includes the fresh, top quality, nutritious food we sell through our website, as well as plenty of exercise."

In an initial one year partnership, Farm Fresh Express is sponsoring the team's shirts, providing apples for half-time rations and a weekly 'player of the match' prize. There will be pitch side banners and the company name will be linked with that of the club in communications. News on the Club will be posted on the Farm Fresh Express website www.farmfreshexpress.co.uk and a link to the company is on the Club's site.

Handing over of the sponsorship cheque

The partnership also means a lot of opportunity to work together to increase young peoples involvement with sport. "The team's commitment to developing greater links with the community, and especially younger people, was one of the things that attracted us to Plaistow FC," says Graham Rawlinson, one of company's directors. "Being part of the community ourselves means we can help to make connections between local families and the Club and encourage participation."

Co-director, Jane Sanders, who attended the first match of the season, is seen here handing the cheque for sponsorship to Eric Rirsch, Club Manager, at the post-match BBQ. Jane met members of the team and saw several new players signing up for training. She concluded: "With the first game a 2-0 win against the Predators (Bognor) we are thrilled with the team's success so far and hope for many more victories through the season."
