12/04/2010 - A Point For The Blue N Whites!

Plaistow went to fellow strugglers Henfield on Saturday and came away with their first point in 2010.

The Stow for much of the season like pointed out in so many of the reports before have been playing against a certain Lady Luck and more importantly teams that can call upon players from higher up in the leagues if they need them. All the evidence is in the results from elsewhere in the league where teams above Plaistow have been losing 5-0 one week and then the week after winning 5-0?!

Saturday was a completely different story which saw two teams that have both been struggling for players and on the wrong end of results all season long. So when the final whistle blew and the score line read 1-1, many people would have said that was a fair result. The Stow took a bit of time to get used to the bouncy pitch, though still when they managed to get the ball down on the deck they played some nice flowing football.

With a non-eventful first half been and gone, the second half was on the other end of the scale. Henfield broke the deadlock when some poor marking let in an opposition midfielder who was left all alone to head the ball into the roof of the net. For once none of the Plaistow heads went down and they got on with it straight away.

A few people would like to see a special someone get a good slating for missing the target 3 times when he should have scored at least two of the chances easily! "The kid" will be having flash backs for nights to come when he closes his eyes! In between these occasions Chris Brazier grabbed the equaliser with a rasping right foot drive into the top corner after some good team work down the left which found Gilling to lay the ball to Brazier for him to finish the move off. With scoring this goal, it managed to suddenly produce Brazier into the player that hasn't been around too much and that people will definitely want to see more of in future!

A good effort all round for Plaistow which saw them play to the level they so rightly can. If they can just improve on the simple side of their passing game then there is no reason that with a few additions in the playing staff they can't have a quick return to this division.
