02/02/2010 - Robbed At The Death
Plaistow produced one of their best performances of the season after nearly 2 months without playing a game and finished the game with nothing.
High flying Barns Green came to Foxfields looking to roll over Div 4 North's basement club with ease, but underestimated them as the home team went 1-0 up through Chris Brazier. Barns Green got their equaliser through a penalty in midway through the first half.
The second half was full of controversy. Two more penalties, one for each side which only the home side took their chance with Paul Clarke tucking his penalty away perfectly on the retake to equalise for Plaistow after they had found themselves 2-1 down early on into the second half. Late in the half it all seemed to go wrong for The Stow as they were harshly awarded a penalty against them which was saved and then they saw their captain Sam Gilling sent off for a second yellow for foul language. But with no less then 15 seconds to go Barns Green hit the winner after Plaistow had failed to clear properly.
In a true "Benitez-esque" response and conclusion to the game... the referee had a perfect game and didn't do anything wrong.
Enough said.
